Hello Linux users, and welcome back to another video on Byte of Linux. One common struggle for Linux users is finding a good way to run Android applications on their computer. There are some developer-oriented emulators out there, such as Android Studio’s emulator and Genymotion, but those might not suit your needs. Recently, a new application called Anbox was released. It takes a different approach to this subject, as it puts Android inside a container which uses the native kernel rather than emulating the entire operating system. For an initial release, it runs surprisingly well. Apps do occasionally crash, but installing third-party APK’s is a breeze. Overall, this is a great application with a promising future.
Make sure to like, comment, and subscribe for future Linux videos. Thank you for watching!

Could not install Anbox on xubuntu 16.04, it says it can't find libudev.so.1 but I have it installed, adding symlinks didn't do it either… Snap package system is so dumb and contrived, the application's directory is marked as read-only after installed and I can't access it.

Some apps don't work because they check if you have a wifi connection inside android. Although I am connected to the internet, the lack of wifi in the app prevents me from performing some functions. Do you know how do I simulate a wifi connection inside my android? Thanks

All Android apps I've installed have issues after I start to run them. Mint Cinnamon 19.2 but these same apps, APKs, run perfect in Bluestacks on my Windows 7 machine. Studied for few days on how to install Anbox, followed directions, everything loaded as was suppose to but the apps I added won't work correctly. Reported bug list are almost all 2 years old. Project didn't have any new bug fixes reported for some time. ???? Thirty years in software business and we would call this app not pre-alpha but 'Vaporware'.

Every time I enter it tells me I need to update GooglePlay. I click to continue and if I click any buttons it shuts down on me. Any idea what I can do?

I managed to install it correctly but it is unusable because of input lag. I type something and there is a delay of like 1 or 2 seconds.

Correction: Anbox is slightly up to date, but is still under development. However, I managed to run the Android apps I need on Anbox. It is the tutorials of Genymotion that are

Genymotion 3.0.1 changed the initial setup settings.
