From what I understand, most (If not all) Cable Co. DVR have their USB Ports disabled.(Copyrights, you know) Instead, you have to use an ESATA Cable, and an ESATA Drive. However, you CANNOT transfer the data to your PC, I The drive will format itself! (Gotta love that Copyright law there, Edith)

Hi, I have bought a new external 1tb portable hard drive. It connects to my PC, but when connected to dvr, the dvr doesnt recognise it. I have tried another usb in the dvr and that is recognised. Do you know how to fix this issue? Thanks

Thank you. I had an obsolete dual VHS Go Video, and had no trouble retrieving songs for my public access t.v. program. It was very old and repaired many times. Finally, it died and I bought an Emerson combo that would not retrieve my songs from Comcast DVR. I guess the Go Video had a tuner. I'm going to try the flash drive. Thank you much.
