Crucial has a Trifecta here. Excellent performance, quality and price, makes the MX500 the best choice overall for a storage device in your PC, in my opinion. Just don’t think I’m saying this SSD is going to come close to NVMe speeds though, and everything will be fine. Check out the links below for more info!

And if it says 500 gigs does it really have 500 gigs? My new 512 gig ssd is only 465 gigs brand new

Thank you for posting this review. I have been a fan of Crucial RAM for a number of years, it looks like their SSD's have improved quite a bit in the last 3-4 years. Looking forward to checking out the 2TB drive soon. Bye Bye Samsung!

It's no use recording your monitor with a camera! I can barely see what's going on, and it flickers horribly! You should show your desktop directly on screen, like most other YouTubers!

Does the Plasma Lamp not interfere with your PC or other electronic equipment? I once noted that if I put my Plasma Globe near my CD Player, the sound cut out! Those lamps produce a strong electric field!

  • comment-avatar

I'm not going to use any software for cloning. Just a "toaster" drive cloner.

  • comment-avatar

Wow I guess you'd be really thrilled now it's cost a year later. Half the price $65.

It's £89 now, should I buy it? That includes travel costs.

Good thing this channel isn't that popular. You truly deserve less subscribers than what you already have.

I just installed the 2 TB one from Amazon for $224.99 in my late 2013 iMac 27", very fast!

I've just ordered a MX500 1 TB from long !river!.com! and seeing this makes me wonder .. can the cloning software be used for non Crucial drives, cheeky I know but seeing as i'll be a reg'd Crucial owner might I be able to clone some whoopsy wild west diggy'erty dog drives onto more reliables pending the move to further Crucial ssd's . I got a 4tb blue and a 2tb red that could be good for shooting practice if anyone wants to pay the post.

    Nice chair .

I got the 2tb mx500 in my mac mini, did a clean install with mojave and its an excellent drive, very fast. Coming from using a samsung evo 850. For the price i would recommend crucial. I think its faster than the evo 850.

  • comment-avatar

Samsung 860 evo has a higher endurance rating for a few extra dollars, almost double, for a heavy user of data, it's something "crucial" at the end of the day… 🙂

i have just upgraded my lenovo G50-30 with this make of ssd and didnt find any more speed as to the old sata drive that came with my machine.so doing this was a waste of money.

  • comment-avatar

I wanna buy it to make my windows boot faster, keep my games in it, and keep my current hdd for large files. To do that first of all I should clone everything to the ssd then open up the bios to change the boot setting to make it boot to the ssd first. That’s it?

almost 1 year later picked up the 1tb MX500 for $110 on a flash sale, fuck yea

  • comment-avatar

Loved this video. You’re incredibly well spoken. I’m saving for the 2tb mx500 to replace my old 2th hhd. Also I’m glad you showed the acronis software. That program seems unbeatable

  • comment-avatar

Jumped on at the Crucial moment with a 2tb MX500. Wasn't anticipating much of a change in my old Toshiba Laptop that I was upgrading from a 500mb SSD. Needed a bit more space to roam but was blown away by the improved performance. I'll just have to drive it around the block a few times, kick the tires, work some videos to get a better feel, but initial impression is one of "impressed". Hope it's for the long run.
Thanks for the video, helped with the setup, Crucial Website is down at this time and I was debating cloning with Samsungs software or the Acronis True Image. I had found the source but wasn't sure, you're demonstration turned the trick, thanks a lot.

  • comment-avatar

Should I buy the Crucial MX500 250gb? Upgrading from a 1tb HDD. Is the 250gb good? I'm on a budget

Awesome video! I will be purchasing mine next week. Thanks!

  • comment-avatar

If i dont need to clone disk, just want to connect new SSD, do I have to use software Acronis or not? Or just connect and its done?

  • comment-avatar

Dude, have you ever seen female genitalia?

  • comment-avatar

I just bought a brand new Crucial MX500 for $64 from Newegg. It is truly awesome and totally rejuvenated my T430!

  • comment-avatar

Acronis blows. Use Macrium Reflect. It's free and it actually works. Better yet get a 860 evo. The Samsung cloning software is the best and it's a better drive.

  • comment-avatar

    will it clone everything ??
passwords, bookmarks and tab shortcuts etc .. ???

  • comment-avatar

of course not. in this level, the king is 860 evo.

  • comment-avatar

it can stand upto 5 minutes of constant wiring before the SLC cache run out even then its still not to bad (as it pasues the SLC cache emptying until the drive is idle, speed still drops but its not as bad as the MX300)

MX300 was not very good especially when the SLC cache runs out as it was Empting the SLC cache on the fly as more writes was coming in, it was at or below other cheap TLC drives around

  • comment-avatar

Great review, ordered one for myself.

  • comment-avatar
