This is a real simple way of sharing movies, documents, photos or whatever you want on your home network.

With HomeGroup feature removed from Windows 10, this is the quick and easy way to share data in folders, computers and hard drive on your home network.

So just follow my step by step guide on How to set up file sharing in Windows 10. I will show you How to enable network discovery and configure network sharing options in Windows 10.

If you want to share your printer on your home network with other computers or devices, then you will need to enable file and printer sharing, because I am on my home network, I disable password protected sharing, this makes it easier for people on your home network to see your computer and access your files, so this will be Windows 10 file sharing without password.

  4. Nope, didn't work for me, followed all steps and remote computer (WIn7) says "You do not have permission to access…." that same computer can see an old XP machine on the network and can read/write files ok.
    Edit: The Win10 machine can see files on the Win7 one but not vice versa.

  8. I really like this to work. But when I restart my laptop i need to the sharing thing again. I want to share videos to my smart TV second problem is what I really like a solution for is I can’t get srt subtitles working i put the srt subtitle file with the same name into the map. Can’t see any option when the video is playing to turn on subtitles on my Samsung smart tv. Really appreciate a response 🙏

  14. if you are having problems see your pc on the second PC go to the veiw tab and tick the box by hidden items

To share a whole drive rather than just a folder, I am finding it does not allow unless I am logged in as the built-in administrator, even if the local user account has full administrator privileges. Unless I am missing something, this is a Windows feature rather than an option I haven't clicked yet. Any idea?
