Tutorial on how to UNINSTALL sideloaded apps here:

Before you can sideload onto your Oculus Quest, you must FIRST put it into DEVELOPER MODE. Now the way to put it into developer mode is EXACTLY THE SAME for the Oculus Go, so here is a 60 second video showing how to put the Oculus Go into Developer Mode, it is EXACTLY THE SAME for the Oculus Quest:

After you’ve watched that video now watch the rest of this video to learn how to sideload.
You will need ADB which you can get here:

Simply extract that to any place on your PC then navigate to the folder using the command prompt.
You also must first plug your Oculus Quest into your PC and it should automatically detect it and install the drivers for you, it did for me at least.
Now using the command prompt from inside the folder you extracted the contents of the adb zip file type “adb devices” and press ENTER. If all goes well it should show you the serial number of your Quest and say “UNAUTHORIZED”, simply go into your Quest and authorize it via the pop up prompt that you will see. Now you can sideload any apk you like via “adb install filename.apk”, as shown in the video. Good luck!

Sir, Icannot find a link to apk files that have to be dowloaded to pc and side loaded to quest.. can You please tell me where should I get that apk files? Thanks

  • comment-avatar

I'm lost at 1.10, you go too fast 🙂 after you open the cmd, you add cd 'space' and paste the location of the file…. Nothing happens when I try this, I even opened the cmd directly from the path with cmd, nothing runs even tough I followed every step, downloaded the updated platform tool. I am already in developer mode, sidequest installed and even using new apps in Quest. Any ideas?

Is it possible to play Blue-Ray disks directly off disk on Oculus Quest? I currently am sharing DVD drive and see it/folder using SkyBox. But not sure which files to use. Is there a blue-ray player for Android that might work? So much easier to just rent the movie and play it directly.

  • comment-avatar

Hi, How can I do that by OSX and Macbook? Thanks for the big help!

  • comment-avatar

    my quest isnt connecting :/

  • comment-avatar

So you're not going to tell us how you fixed the ADB devices problem!!??!?!!?? I'm having the same problem you were and I can't figure out how to fix it, please let us know

  • comment-avatar

there is a much easier way to install the apks, drag and drop via sidequest, not sure why the author of this video has not mentioned this. no need to run adb commands, you drag/drop on the top left corner of sidequest menu from Windows where it says "drag and drop your apk/obb files…"

  • comment-avatar

Can it be loaded through Sidequest. I have a mac and cannot use the command prompt

  • comment-avatar

Will this app function for sideloading to an android phone?

  • comment-avatar

Came here to find a solution to my problem with the driver, but still nothing… I have the latest version of adb, but after typing "adb devices" shows only "list attached" and nothing else. My laptop does detect there's something plugged in, shows it as "Unknown device – driver failure", and no matter what I do it just won't work. Help!

  • comment-avatar

I take it I need a different cable to actually connect the Quest to the PC as well? The one which comes with it looks like USB-C but doesn't actually work.

  • comment-avatar

Wait u forgot to mention that the pc requires a usb c port

  • comment-avatar

So it's pretty much the same as sideloading on any other Android device. Good to know. I already do this on my phone.

  • comment-avatar

Im stuck, I have the extracted folder, developer mode done (I've used sidequest) and when I try entering 'adb devices' this is what shows "adb : The term 'adb' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the

spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.

    At line:1 char:1

    + adb devices

    + ~~~

    + CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (adb:String) [], CommandNotFoundException

    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException"
