Cameron Russell admits she won “a genetic lottery”: she’s tall, pretty and an underwear model. But don’t judge her by her looks. In this fearless talk, she takes a wry look at the industry that had her looking highly seductive at barely 16-years-old.

I realized the main thing is money ☝️☹️🤦

  • comment-avatar

I'm an adult now but I still remember how people treated me and my younger cousin when we were children. We were only 2 years apart. They adored her and always gave her free candies while I watched in a corner. It was really painful at that age and still is. I'm unable to forget the pain.

  • comment-avatar

I'm 7 ft tall and height isn't everything

  • comment-avatar

She literally showed pictures of herself to make people realize models are humans too, they're not perfect at all. Yes it's so nice to be attractive because you have tones of benefits but let's not forget that attractive people are most of the times seen as some dolls with amazing features, nobody actually praises them for who they actually are or what they have to say. Why do people hate her lmao?

  • comment-avatar

I am 100% sure only 10% of the people who commented in this video actually finished watching the video or even listen to what she was saying.

  • comment-avatar

If tear drops could be bottled there'd be swimming pools filled by models

  • comment-avatar

Liked your talk – sense of humour, natural delivery, honesty and intelligence. Cool.

  • comment-avatar

People with looks and money say such things coz people only admire them for their outer beauty or wealth and not for who they are as a person.

  • comment-avatar

Her being honest doesn't really help here. But then again this isn't a topic that can be covered within minutes. I never had a boyfriend. I was so ugly as a teen that no guy would look twice and this depressed me. I feel I will go back to being just that when I turn 40. I will be invisible once more. Don't tell me looks don't matter.

  • comment-avatar

Says a good looking person. Just like a bilionaire who says that money wont make you happy. Well shall we switch?

  • comment-avatar

She doesn’t need to ashamed of her power. Beauty is arguably the most rewarding talent anyone could ask for.

  • comment-avatar

how you look isnt all you are.
our soul is so deeper than the face you wear

  • comment-avatar

She should change the title of the speech into What problems you have to face when you are so beautiful. It's very clearly that what she say doesn't prove anything about beauty isn't important and how unlucky people can changing the way everyone looks at them.

  • comment-avatar

I'm glad that I saw this video. Because right now I feel so down because of my looks. I feel that I'm less of a person. But because of this somehow I changed my views.

  • comment-avatar

she was very humble. inner beauty with a sense of humor. holla at yah boy

  • comment-avatar

When society finally stops associating beauty with intelligence, work ethic, and our personalities, the world will be a happier place.

  • comment-avatar

People need to start accepting that money isn't everything / looks aren't everything. When the general consensus that extremely rich/ attractive people come up with is money/ looks aren't everything they probably have a point. They actually experienced these things.

  • comment-avatar

I would choose a smart guy with a good sence of humor and confidence over a really hot stupid one, even if he's rich.

  • comment-avatar

Health, wealth, good looks and a good family. These are pretty much everything. She had it all.

  • comment-avatar

Next time lets hear someone conventionally ugly do the same Ted talk.

  • comment-avatar

    Wow, she's hot!

  • comment-avatar

I am pretty sure many other people get free stuff,,I had got free stuff and let off several times..there are just compassionate humans all around…you can interpret your experience as a just look thing because you are a supermodel..- but there may not be looks involved there at all..

  • comment-avatar

eloquent and truthful, very very good video

  • comment-avatar

After all, I felt that it was all about looks. What does she want to say?

  • comment-avatar

    They are beautiful women..

  • comment-avatar

She recognizes her privilege, multiple times throughout the speech so that we don't forget that she recognizes it. I don't think any of the negative comments are justified. If anything it proves her point that she cannot be anything more than a pretty face.

In the climat of looks and personality, here is the song of Patricia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAC_G9v7wsc

Fefinity is beauty in actual but free cavities of women

  • comment-avatar

After she said "so if you want to be the President of USA, but your resume reads underwear model: 10 years, People give you a funny look", I went straight to see the video upload date and saw 2013 and i was like- oh okay.

  • comment-avatar

    めちゃめちゃおもろ
She is so funny!!! I become hers fun!

  • comment-avatar

    (Un)fortunately being beautiful/handsome matters…

  • comment-avatar

i read the comments and watched the video. change the title of the video, its misleading

  • comment-avatar

I love her idea a lot. Actually I thumbed up.But the fact is that beautiful people are happier than ugly people. Due to beautiful people are usually treated better than ugly people. And beautiful people never ever understand how ugly people feel. It is very easy to say looks aren’t everything for beautiful people. My habit is hiding part of my face. For instance when I’m talking to someone, am smiling, and am laying with someone…because I feel so sorry for people who are watching my face. What I think is that I might make them feel uncomfortable because of my ugly face. Looks aren’t everything? I wish they aren’t.

So wining the lottery is being white??? Is she crazy or what

  • comment-avatar

That's why we muslim women wear the hijab we are here to worship one god and to do what we suppose to do not just a pretty face

  • comment-avatar

That's why women muslims wear Hijab … because it protect them from sexuality view and it makes you deal with personality not with looks….

  • comment-avatar

being a cyborg will be fun

  • comment-avatar

I think she really tried to make
a point but kinda got lost…. the last part was kinda confusing. However, it’s nice to see how she acknowledges the power of image and how that power has benefitted her, but it is also nice to listen her saying how sad it is to be perceived as a thing or mannequin who can be used and transformed to achieve a goal. I think I can sum up by saying that it is our responsibility to assign the level of power we want to give to our image over our lives.

HMI lights are never used in "jumpy motion shots" BTW!

  • comment-avatar

In other words, "the right looks are everything"!

  • comment-avatar

Cameron Russell, one very smart and compassionate cookie.

As for the negative comments, they are clearly written by those who didn't understand the what she was taking about.

  • comment-avatar

models aren't a look. everything, believe me.
