2014-04 UPDATE: Universal Driver Installer:
This video shows how to install the USB drivers for ADB access for the Sony Tablet S and P. It is a fully automated installer that is much simpler than installing the complete Android SDK and editing files.
It also copies ADB to your computer and opens a command prompt in the exact folder (no more hunting around for it).
It has been tested under Windows 7 x32 and x64 and should also work for Vista and XP (see the original thread: a 2nd driver may also be required).
If you’re running Windows XP, you may also need to manually install the MTP [media transfer protocol] drivers located here:
===================================
As of 2012 November, Windows 8 requires you to disable driver signing and MANUALLY install the drivers.
Open an ADMINISTRATOR Command Prompt:
To disable driver signing, copy/paste the following commands:
bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON
[RESTART]
(on your desktop you’ll see the watermark: “Test mode'” until you re-enable driver signing).
Re-enable driver signing:
bcdedit -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF
[RESTART]

Video guide for Windows 8 driver installation:
ADB access is needed for the recently released root exploit.
Visit the original thread for the latest information, FAQs, etc.:
Download the ZIP: [Sony Tablet S]
Once you’ve installed the driver and VERIFIED that your device is detected by ADB, you can attempt the root below.

Hashwert-Problem bei Win 8.1 64bit!
http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to-disable-driver-signature-verification-on-64-bit-windows-8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/
Hi, i've followed the instructions, but at the end, when i type 'adb devices' it comes up blank
On the "Have Disk…" part it doesnt work for me, it comes up with "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware" could you shed some light please?
You should write that work only on 32 bit system. I can't install it on 64 bit.
You saved me, thank you very much!
omg thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally this is working after like 2 hours omg i love you men!
The driver selection should be to the individual file, not the folder. 3:32 and beyond.
Hi, I've been trying to install the ADB drivers but everytime i get stuck in the selecting of the winusb driver. Each time it says there is no compatible driver for x64 in this folder. And i'm sure i selected the right file.
Is there perhaps a step i've missed?
There is no known method to directly root Jelly Bean yet.
Dou you know a method to root sony tablet s with JB 4.1.1 release 2? The case is that before the actualization I have root but after that not any more. Tks.
thanks dude !
you're a fucking genius my friend
Thanks, was finally able to root my device!
Thanks, great app. And a very good guide.
Nice guide, Thanks dude
thank you Michael ,you solve my question.
no, drivers for sony xperia tablet and sony tablet S are not the same ! i finally find the solution to make my xperia tablet worked fine with adb eclipse. just tweak android_winusb.inf with this :
[Google.NTx86]
;SONY Xperia Tablet S
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USBVID_054C&PID_06AD&MI_01
[Google.NTamd64]
;SONY Xperia Tablet S
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USBVID_054C&PID_06AD&MI_01
Nope, seems like, it's installed… I will try it at another PC, so i have a "clean surface"
Does it have a yellow "!" or a red symbol? That means the drivers aren't installed and you should be able to force a manual install.
Hmm, strange, there's no checkbox in the uninstall dialogue…
– Device Manager
– Right-click on the device.
– Uninstall
– [checkbox] "Delete the driver software for this device."
I had manually picked it, for The Tablet, there is no checkbox for deleting the files too. I have also tried to delete the driver files manually (ubuntu live CD), which are used with the driver, but that hasnt helped too…
First off, uninstall all the related drivers and make sure you check the "Uninstall/delete files" checkbox, then manually install it.
3:25 onward. You cannot let Windows search.
– Let me pick…
– Show all devices…
– etc.
Doesn't works, it's not availlible on the list of other devices, its' now on the list of portable Devices and when i try to install the driver it say, that the drivers in the inf file ae not compatible to the device. And when i try to uninstall the driver, it reinstalls it, when i replug the device 🙁
Same method. Update Driver, Have Disk, etc.
I installed the wrong driver from the list, now this driver is being installed everytime, when i uninstall it. How can i choose another driver for that?
Drivers are identical. This has already been confirmed working across all Sony tablets.
very useful but how can do it for xperia tablet (not the s tablet).
what i have to change ?
i also contact sony to know how to connect nto ADB the xperia tablet, they don't offer any solution neither drivers ! a shame !
thanks for help
Thank you
… drivers aren't installed.
Go into Device Manager. Fix the errors.
Thanks for this mate! Worked beautifully and without a single hiccup. Much appreciated 🙂
i have a problem. when i put adb devices just tell me list of devices attached. and nothing else.
