This lesson was really helpful to improve my vocabulary ! The one that I love the most is "I'm starving". My teacher used to say it quite a lot
In the USA when it rains very very heave we say "it is raining cats and dogs" but in the Mid-western states we might say something a bit funnier like " wow, that's a real frog strangler or wow, that was a goose drownder". There are distinctly different phrases Americans use in the east, mid-west and western states. Sometimes you wonder were the keck did that come from? You get the idea right?
When we want to describe a very active child , we say sprite…for example…..karim is a sprite…..it is the english equivalent of the informal Arabic word "fezghoul"
In Algeria when something hurts you, like shoes for example, we say …..these shoes are tearing me up…..tear up used here to mean hurts a lot
People in my country will say “I’m so hungry that I can eat a cow.”🤣🤣

In Algeria we use to say
I'm hungry to the death, i could eat you
i'm really hungry, i could it an elephant
I am so hungry that somebody ressurect dinosaurs cuz I COULD TOTALLY EAT ONE

In Ukraine we're usually saying, I'm so hungry, I could eat a horse or elephant lol.

We use the same phrases here across the pond (The US)…(That's another one, because the Atlantic Ocean is not a pond.)
In Polish we also say "I'd eat a horse" when we're really hungry, but we do it in an even more exaggerated way. The actual saying goes: "I'd eat a horse with its hooves".

** takes foverer = (delays horrorbilly)

** is on fire = (**is with everything)
** is going to kill me = (SAME)
** its hotter than the sun = (its hotter than the hell / today is an oven; meaning that today the weather is hot like an oven)
** starving = (SAME / i'm dying from hunger)

In Polish you say that you are so hungry that you could eat a horse along with the hooves. So it's basically the same 😊
In Romanian we say something like "as hungry as a wolf/ – Am o foame de lup.
